Most people have freckles and moles which are entirely normal.
As a person grows older and the skin is exposed to sunlight, the skin changes.
If you have a mole anywhere that changes in colour, has an irregular border, size, or shape, and are different than the rest, or if a mole starts to bleed, then it is really important to get it checked by your GP.
At consultation your mole will be examined carefully in order to determine the best method of treatment, moles that are considered healthy are often removed using a short diathermy this treatment takes only a few minutes and leaves virtually no scar.
Suspicious moles are removed surgically and are sent to the lab for microscopic examination, this provides a definite diagnosis and can reduce psychological stress.
