Burn scars may be helped or removed and replaced with skin grafts to allow the skin's surface to have a more natural look.

Hypertrophic or elevated scars may be helped using dermabrasion.


Whilst scars cannot be completely removed the appearance can be improved and made less obvious.

How is scar revision performed?
There are different techniques and effective procedures for scar revision. The specific procedure used will depend on the type of scar.


Z-plasty is a technique that repositions a scar to more closely conform it to the natural lines and creases of the skin. Skin graft or flap surgery are also techniques that are used.

How long does scar revision take?


The time required for scar revision depends on the type of scar that needs revising, your surgeon will guide you.
